Equal Pay Policy

Brauð og co has implemented an equal pay system according to the Icelandic Standard 85:2012 based on the 7th section of Act No. 150/2020 on equal pay certification, which applies to all employees with the equal pay policy as its foundation. The purpose of the equal pay system is to ensure gender equality and equal status within Brauð og co, aiming to utilize the abilities, strengths, and skills of all employees to their fullest extent without gender-based discrimination taking place.

This equal pay policy reminds managers and all employees of the importance of equality and not to assess the wealth represented by education, experience, and individual skills regardless of gender. It is crucial to adhere to the main principle that everyone enjoys the same opportunities:

  • Decisions are made in the same manner for the same or equally valuable work.
  • Employees have equal opportunities for education/training.
  • Both genders are encouraged to apply for positions within our company.
  • We find ways to balance family and work life.
  • We do not tolerate violence; this includes, among other things, gender-based/sexual violence/harassment.

This equal pay policy is an integral part of Brauð og co's wage policy and the equal pay system is subject to continuous improvement and monitoring. Factors affecting wage determination include applicable collective agreements, laws and regulations, along with wage developments. Job, education, knowledge, and experience also matter in wage determination, and any discrepancies are addressed.

Equal pay goals are outlined in the equal pay system and they are reviewed and revised according to operational rules as necessary.

The equal pay policy is communicated to all employees and accessible to the public.
